Chinese medicine is based upon the flow of energy through the body. As energy travels via specific “meridians”, pathways or channels the energy or “CHI’ can become blocked or obstructed. There are number of factors which can cause the disruption such as emotional stress, unhealthy lifestyle, environmental factors, poor diet, or trauma. When CHI is disrupted fatigue, discomfort, pain or some disease process follows.

In acupuncture, needles (other options- non- needle, lase) are applied to stimulate specific points on the body to restore balance to the flow of CHI. Once achieved the result is decreased pain.

Your doctor will discuss the particulars after close evaluation is performed and make recommendations. Sadly the disruption has been untreated for long periods of time which causes a build-up or” damning effect” in the various meridians. This issue is why more than single application maybe necessary and why additional protocols such as spinal manipulation may be required in order to ensure the best possible outcome.

Acupuncture is typically administered in “courses “. A course is 12 applications or treatments. Many conditions will need 1, 2 and quite possibly 3 courses depending upon the chronicity.

Course 1: 3x wk, 4 wks
Re- evaluation to determine if an additional Course is necessary.
